9/1/10 Power Poll: Nexus strikes back
The Power Poll features a reshuffling of sorts this week, with a new name at the top and a surprisingly strong showing on the Smackdown side. Not such a good week if you are TNA (of course, when is it ever?).
1. Wade Barrett (10)
Defying my predictions that they were ready to be Spirit Squaded, Nexus was put over strongly on Raw, with Barrett cleanly pinning Randy Orton to win a 5-on-5 elimination tag match.
2. Kane (4)
The World champion dominated Rey Mysterio and stood up to his older brother. The Power Poll voters are impressed, though I’m not as convinced that the fans are.
3. Alberto Del Rio (6)
He followed up his strong WWE debut against Mysterio with another convincing win on Smackdown and a run-in on Raw that made him seem like a star.
4. C.M. Punk (NR)
Punk is another Smackdown star who made this week’s Raw tolerable, with a terrific promo about the show’s past scuzzy content. He isn’t afraid to be completely reviled, yet he’s terrifically entertaining at the same time.
5. John Cena (1)
Cena falls from the top after being eliminated in the 5-on-5 match, but he’s managed to be a consistent presence despite his reputation as a smart-mark pariah.
6. Randy Orton (2)
He’s down this week, but it’s starting to look like Orton could mean a lot of money as a babyface if his story is told correctly. His first chase for the championship as a babyface (I don’t count his failed 2004 run) could really mean something.
7. The Miz (5)
Miz seems to have lost a bit of the momentum he had heading into Summerslam, but a four-star match with Daniel Bryan at Night of Champions would likely change that.
8. Undertaker (NR)
Who’s bad?
9. Sheamus (3)
The WWE champion has sort of become an afterthought on Raw lately. But losing to Heath Slater cleanly will do that.
10. Tyler Black (NR)
Taking advantage of his impending move to WWE, the ROH champion is drawing some real heat on his way out for “selling out” (i.e. getting a better job).

Hello Everybody,
This is a quick post but I just wanted to pass along a bit of information. Since this site launched back in March it has had over 4,000 visits. All I can say is “Thank you”. I hope you keep visiting the site and I am working on some big updates. Hopefully, I will be able to talk more about it in the near future.

Hello Everybody,
As some of you know I am a big user of twitter but it can be tough to read all of the good tweets due to the large amount of accounts that I follow. So, to fix this I created three new twitter lists. One for wrestling fans, sites, and federations. This post is created to document these lists and any future updates. If you like these lists then feel free to subscribe and of course if you have any ideas for improvements let me know.

Hello Everybody,
I’m taking a break from development to speak my mind a bit. As the title suggests I bring to you a question. What is wrong with the IWC or Internet Wrestling Community?
I’m bringing this question up because I’m looking at my twitter feed and I see people making jokes about TNA and speculating like rabid dogs about Samoa Joe. Its almost as if at the slight notion something is wrong in our wrestling world we, as wrestling fans, go crazy into wild thoughts. Its like when a girl/boy is paranoid about what their better half is doing. Why are we doing this when we don’t even have a tenth of the full story? I’ve seen this type of reaction ever since the internet first said hello to wrestling fans. Frankly, its time we relaxed a bit. I understand we can get emotionally involved and constantly root for the underdog. That’s fine but we would be better off toning it down and saving that energy for the next Katie Vick storyline.
Ok, rant over. Back to your normal program.

Hello Everybody,
I hope everyone is enjoying the site. I wanted to take some time out and speak about the status of The Superplex. No, its not shutting down or going in hiatus. For the past few months I have been working on a lot of big updates to the site. It has sadly taken me longer than anticipated but progress is coming along nicely. I don’t have a release date yet but once I do I will let everyone know.
As for what is coming up well I don’t want to say much besides there will be a cleaner design and more power to site users.
That’s it for now. Keep visiting the site and of course ask me any questions in the comments.

Hello Everybody,
I would like to proudly say that The Superplex is now apart of Wrestlespective’s Power Poll. This is a poll taken from a variety of wrestling sites to give their top ten wrestlers for the week. I felt like this could be fun and so far it is. It’s very interesting to see how the overall results turn out.
In case you’re wondering the other great minds taking part in this poll are: BoredWrestlingFan.com, Hit the Ropes, Online World of Wrestling,PIZZABODYSLAM, Pro Wrestling Ponderings, Project Wonderboy, Ringside Rants, The Wrestling Blog, WrestlingAdikt.com, WrestleRage.com, Wrestlespective. It will be interesting to see this poll grow. So, if you have your own wrestling site and want to join then head over to Wrestlespective and send them an email.
Finally here is the full top ten list for anyone that is interested.
Power Poll 7/14/10: One of a kind
One week after inactivity plunged him out of the top 10, Rob Van Dam returned with a vengeance to take the top spot in this week’s Power Poll.
1. Rob Van Dam (Last week: NR)
The TNA champion continued his solid, if unspectacular reign by defending his title at Victory Road and beating Samoa Joe in a non-title match on Impact. He’ll probably remain the focus on TNA in the near future, especially as the rECW angle heats up.
2. Randy Orton (3)
His fancy RKO on a flying Evan Bourne was the highlight of the week, showcasing Orton’s DDP-like ability to hit his signature move from any position. Now if only he could work the word “bang” into more of his promos.
3. Jack Swagger (5)
The No. 1 contender for the World title has looked strong enough against Rey Mysterio and Big Show to make up for looking weak in interactions with Inspector Kane. He’ll probably stick around in this spot if he can win the title on Sunday.
4. Sheamus (1)
The WWE champion fell a bit this week, with no Raw match and seeming at bit foolish running away from the Nexus. Defending the title against John Cena at Money in the Bank might boost his standing.
5. John Cena (2)
He fought valiantly as always but fell to Nexus in a 6-on-1 handicap match on Raw. Despite his reputation of being loathed by smart fans, he has continued to do well in the Power Poll.
6. The Miz (NR)
Thanks to an expanded voter poll, Miz has a bit of an inexplicable rise this week. His match with Mark Henry on Raw was not particularly memorable, but Cleveland’s greatest athlete is certainly deserving of recognition for his great promos and all-around game.
7. Edge (NR)
Edge’s performances have been uneven since he turned heel, but this week he beat Randy Orton in a solid match on Raw and later had his best promo since his comeback that hyped up Money in the Bank.
8. Kurt Angle (8)
As always, Angle had one of the best pay-per-view matches against Pope D’Angelo Dinero. Though TNA’s booking got in the way again, as the crowd had a hard time believing the Pope would win because of Angle’s promise to retire if he lost.
9. Wade Barrett (NR)
The Nexus leader finally led his troops into a battle in the handicap match against Cena. He’s been terrific as the mouthpiece, but it’ll be interesting to see how he fares once he’s asked to do more in the ring.
10. Rey Mysterio (4)
When he won the World title at Fatal 4 Way, no one thought his second reign could have been booked worse than his first. Well, he hasn’t won a TV match by pinfall since and has been pretty much embarrassed at every turn, and is playing second fiddle as a babyface to the Big Show. Maybe he’ll find his way Sunday against Swagger.
Dropped out: Abyss, Evan Bourne, Jay Lethal, Jeff Hardy
Also receiving votes: Jay Lethal, Evan Bourne, Jeff Hardy, Abyss, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Abyss, Justin Gabriel, Kofi Kingston, Chris Jericho, Pope D’Angelo Dinero, Doink the Clown, The Nexus, Samoa Joe, Kazarian, A.J. Styles, Percy Watson, Alicia Fox, Maryse, Kaval
Hello Everybody,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update about the site. Sorry about that but between personal life and working on the next evolution of The Superplex I’ve been a bit busy. Not busy enough to investigate a nasty performance that the site has had since forever. The site now runs very fast especially when you first come to the homepage. Give it a look if you don’t believe me :).
I hope you’re all enjoying the site. Please don’t hesitate to tell your friends about it. Also, don’t forget to catch us on Facebook and Twitter. If you have your own wrestling site and would like to help spread the good word of The Superplex to your own visitors feel free to grab one of our banners for use on your site.
Oh and yes the site design changed. It needed a bit of sprucing up.

Hello Everyone,
I just put out an update to the site that puts the performance of the site back to speed. Now the pages will load very faster and should be much more responsive. Don’t believe me give it a try and if it doesn’t work then tell me here. Don’t worry I don’t mind the public humiliation. Well that’s it for now I’ve got to get back to working on a very large update to the site.
